Strong earthquake hits near Acapulco, buildings sway in Mexico City

A powerful earthquake struck in close proximity to the Pacific resort town of Acapulco on Tuesday night, leading to buildings to rock and sway in Mexico Metropolis virtually 200 miles away.

The US Geological Study reported the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 7. and was centered was centered 17 kilometers (about 10 miles) northeast of Acapulco.

There had been no immediate reviews from the quake zone.

In Mexico Town, the ground shook for approximately a minute in some components of the funds, but was less evident in other parts. Some folks evacuated their buildings briefly, but most speedily went again inside on a rainy night.

Mexico City authorities said there were no early reports of major injury in the town, though they claimed energy was knocked out in some neighborhoods.
