Rockets fired at Kabul airport, intercepted by anti-missile system


Rockets were being fired towards the Kabul airport on Monday morning and had been reportedly intercepted by a US anti-missile process.

Other rockets appeared to have landed in a neighborhood outside the house the airport, witnesses explained to the Connected Push.

It was unclear who released the rockets.

Gunfire adopted the explosions in the Salim Karwan community, witnesses reported.

No injuries had been straight away described.

A US official told Reuters that up to five rockets fired at the airport were intercepted.

President Biden was briefed on the rocket assault, which arrived a day before the US deadline to withdraw from the Taliban-managed place, White Residence Jen Psaki explained in a assertion.

Immediately after the rocket fire, US cargo planes had been spotted continuing the evacuation endeavours.
