NYC native WWII vet Sidney Walton dead at 102


1 of the oldest remaining Planet War II veterans in the US has died at the age of 102.

Manhattan-born Sidney Walton died Saturday morning in Santa Monica, in accordance to a news release from his spouse and children.

He was elevated on the Lessen East Facet and attended Town College or university of New York right before enlisting in 1941 to “fight Hitler.”

Walton had been on a nationwide tour to meet all 50 governors and raise awareness about contributions and sacrifices WWII vets manufactured.

Walton enlisted in the army throughout Earth War II in 1941.

On Sept. 28, he frequented Oklahoma, his 40th state, and achieved with Gov. Kevin Sitt.

Final year, the native New Yorker received a Town Corridor salute for his 101st birthday, and a proclamation from Mayor Monthly bill de Blasio.

“My father was a living piece of historical past, reminding us not to forget about the price of our freedoms nowadays,” his son Paul Walton claimed. 

“He influenced large appreciation for all veterans.”
