North Korea banned from 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics

North Korea has been banned from the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing mainly because the nation refused to deliver a staff to the Tokyo Video games citing pandemic considerations.

“They were being violating the Olympic Constitution and did not satisfy their obligation as mentioned in the Olympic Charter to take part,” Intercontinental Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach reported Wednesday in explaining the punishment.

But, in accordance to Bach, person athletes from the state who qualify for the Winter Online games may perhaps still be equipped to compete pending a different decision.

In April, North Korea announced the withdrawal of its crew from the Tokyo Olympics. The Hermit Kingdom at the time claimed it needed to safeguard its athletes from the “world general public well being disaster brought on by COVID-19.”

North Korea’s suspension lasts by means of 2022, but could most likely be extended, Bach mentioned.

10 North Korean competition were being sent to the 2018 Winter season Game titles and none participated in 2014 at Sochi, Russia.

In 2010, North Korea sent two athletes to Vancouver.
