NC woman Briea Askew charged with killing woman with cerebral palsy

A North Carolina caretaker was billed with second-diploma murder in connection to the demise of a affected person with cerebral palsy — whom she allegedly still left unattended in a very hot car for 5 several hours, cops said.

Briea Askew, 29, remaining the 21-calendar year-old female inside an unattended motor vehicle on Aug. 10, the Higher Place Law enforcement Office mentioned in a Monday news release.

The woman’s temperature rose to additional than 110 levels as she stayed in the sweltering motor vehicle, which did not have air conditioning, authorities said.

She was taken to the Wake Forest Baptist High Issue Hospital, where by she died a short time later.

Police responded to the hospital at 2:30 p.m. that working day for a dying investigation.

Investigators identified that too much warmth and humidity contributed to the woman’s dying.

Askew is remaining held at the Significant Point Detention Centre, inmate documents clearly show, below a $200,000 secured bond.
