Joe Biden visits Louisiana to tour Hurricane Ida damage

President Biden on Friday toured damage from Hurricane Ida in Louisiana as the state struggles to restore power and rebuild soon after the Classification 4 storm.

Biden was greeted by community officials following stepping off Air Drive A single in New Orleans.

The tarmac welcome occasion incorporated Democratic Gov. John Edwards and Republican Sens. Invoice Cassidy and John Kennedy.

Household Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell, a Democrat, also welcomed Biden.

“My message these days is, I imagine what we’re all seeing — and I’m getting the similar response from my Republican good friends here that are in the Congress — is there is absolutely nothing political about this. This is simply just about conserving lives, obtaining individuals back up and functioning. And we’re in this collectively,” he mentioned.

“I promise we’re gonna have your back again until finally this matter will get carried out. And so, I’m mainly right here to hear to see what’s on your head.”

The storm arrived ashore Sunday in Louisiana, but killed much more people in the New York place on Wednesday when its remnants triggered flash flooding, drowning at minimum 13 people today in New York Town and killing at least 25 in New Jersey.

Biden will expend the weekend at his household in Wilmington, Del. He has not still announced designs to tour flood destruction in New York.
