Hurricane Ida rips roof off of Louisiana hospital: video

Frightening video clip shows Hurricane Ida’s violent gusts rip a roof off of a area hospital in Louisiana as the perhaps lethal Group 4 storm battered the area right after generating landfall Sunday.

The footage captures the minute component of the roof came off the Girl of the Sea Basic Hospital in Galliano in the low-lying LaFourche Parish south of New Orleans, according to a tweet by a area NBC-Television reporter.

“Oh my god!” another person can be read yelling as the roof blows away.

At the time of Sunday’s landfall, Ida experienced greatest sustained winds of about 150 mph. A storm is considered Category 5, the most highly effective, at 157 mph, according to the Countrywide Hurricane Centre.

The storm has preliminarily tied for the fifth strongest hurricane to appear ashore in the state dependent on wind velocity. Primarily based on central force, it is also tied for ninth strongest US landfall.
