Hurricane Grace made landfall on Mexico’s jap coastline early Thursday, when a deluge of rain and serious winds threatened to demolish some residences.
Grace’s middle struck just south of Tulum at 5:45 a.m. EST, with greatest sustained winds of 80 mph, according to the US Nationwide Hurricane Center.
As the storm moved about Mexico’s Caribbean coast, south of the ancient Mayan temples in Tulum, the storm weakened slightly, but remained at hurricane power Thursday morning. It headed west throughout the peninsula at 17 mph, and was located about 45 miles south-southeast of Valladolid, Mexico.
On Thursday early morning, the streets of Playa del Carmen, north of where by Grace made landfall, have been littered with tree branches, right after a desolate Wednesday night time, when Mexican authorities purchased corporations to close and people today to look for shelter by 8 p.m.
