China spends $24M to remove huge Guan Yu war god statue


Chinese officials are shelling out a staggering $24 million to go a 190-foot-tall bronze statue of historic war god Guan Yu following problems from citizens it was an eyesore.

The statue, which value $26 million to develop, is presently being dismantled by personnel in the metropolis of Jingzhou, the South China Early morning Article reviews.

So far, only the statue’s head has been eradicated.

The statue of Guan Yu — a standard who lived during the Han dynasty ( 202 BC–220 Advert) and was later on revered as a war god — was created in 2016 previously mentioned a museum, but its existence has been plagued by complaints from locals and some government officers.

They argue the 1,200 ton statue is unappealing and a vainness challenge that ruins the physical appearance of the ancient town.

He said the entire place of generating the statue so massive was to draw in site visitors.

The attraction has only reportedly raked in about $2 million since it was erected.
