Califonia crossing guard Ashley Dias killed while saving kids


A California crossing guard heroically shoved center school learners out of the route of an oncoming SUV — only to be fatally struck, in accordance to authorities.

Ashley Dias, 45, died following becoming hit by the car or truck outside the house Stanley Middle University in Lafayette on Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses observed him press a group of college students out of the way in the split-second before he was struck.

“The father of one of the young children arrived to me — a medical doctor at John Muir Clinic — and he mentioned, ‘If it wasn’t for your son, my daughter would be lifeless,’” Dias’ mother Gloria Dias informed ABC7.

“He died a hero, but he’ll never ever arrive back to us, he’s gone.”

To start with responders arrived on the scene to locate an unresponsive Dias trapped beneath the SUV, the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Workplace said.

Dias was found unresponsive under the SUV and was taken to the hospital where he died. One child was struck by the vehicle but only suffered minor injuries.
