In March 2006, the UN General Assembly elected Achim Steiner as the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program.His background assures a first-hand knowledge of civil society, governmental and international organizations within the environmental community.
Mr. Steiner has a professional track record in the fields of sustainable development policy and environmental management. Before joining UNEP, Mr. Steiner served as Director General of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) from 2001 to 2006. Achim Steiner, the Executive Director of UNEP, will address the audience in plenary session 3: Environment and climate-friendly business action: investments and technology as drivers for change.
